Honeywell Yu Feng: Intelligent manufacturing is inseparable from technological innovation
Recently, the Global Future Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Conference was held in Beijing. The theme of the conference was “Technology Empowers the Future, Innovation Leads Development”. Yu Feng, President of Honeywell China, was invited to attend. Participate in discussions and express opinions on topics such as the ways and methods of scientific and technological innovation to solve important global problems.
Yu Feng, President of Honeywell China
The following are some of the speeches to share
Thank you for the introduction of the host. The leaders, experts, ambassadors and heads of enterprises who spoke just now discussed the role of intelligent manufacturing in future economic development from academic research, national policies, market applications and other fields, and the impact of future technological innovation on future economic development. The importance of smart manufacturing, I have benefited a lot from it.
I would like to share some of my own experience and understanding of intelligent manufacturing based on the experience and understanding of Honeywell, a US-funded enterprise that has been engaged in the research and development of innovative solutions in the fields of Industrial internet and intelligent manufacturing for many years.
1 For enterprises to practice intelligent manufacturing, they must first lay a solid foundation and practice internal and external skills.
Four stages of enterprise digitalization and intelligent manufacturing transformation: lean, automation, interconnection, and intelligence. Lean is the foundation for all subsequent progress. Digitalization, automation and other technologies cannot replace lean, but can help enterprises to continuously improve lean level, Break through the lean bottleneck.
Adhering to lean production is the main line of Honeywell’s excellent operation system. Both hands are hard. We have been innovating technical means. From the DCS in the 1970s to the later IOT, the MOM system at the application layer is essentially a The means and ways to support, expand, and improve the excellent operation system complement each other and promote each other, multiplying the effect of lean, reducing energy consumption, improving productivity, and speeding up the response to market demand.
2 Second, practice is the only criterion for testing the effectiveness of smart manufacturing solutions.
What I mean by practice is measurable output, that is, whether the program has brought tangible benefits to the company itself and its customers. Enterprises explore intelligent manufacturing, and there is no immutable plan that can be copied. It must be tailored according to their own practice, and constantly adjusted and improved in practice. It can be said that every solution that Honeywell provides to customers has been tried and tested in its own factory.
Taking Honeywell’s globally certified world-class factory – Suzhou Majie Factory as an example, since the establishment of the factory in 2008, it has not been exploring and improving the lean production process every day. While the scale of the workforce remains stable, the output value has increased by 8 times. , the cost is significantly reduced, and the delivery rate is greatly improved. Not only that, the products of various companies acquired by Honeywell around the world are in various forms, with different specifications and quality requirements, and their respective market requirements and characteristics are also different from each other, but all of them have achieved high efficiency, scale and flexibility in the Majie factory. And flexible production, which greatly expands Honeywell’s profit margins.
Suzhou Majie Factory
The Majie factory is the first world-class factory in Honeywell’s certification system, and it is also the record holder of the fastest world-class factory.
3 Third, intelligent manufacturing is not unmanned manufacturing. The ultimate goal is the organic integration of man-machine and the realization of the maximum utility of man-machine.
Honeywell believes that companies should explore the best combination of human and machine based on reality. There is no difference between machines and people. Strengthening coordination and mutual promotion is the core pursuit of lean production. The development of people and organizations is a strong guarantee for the lean production system and informatization practice, and it is also the key factor for the successful implementation of Honeywell’s operation excellence system in more than 140 self-owned factories around the world.
Take the Majie factory as an example. The factory has about 1,000 employees. It is not like some factories, there are no one or only a few people, but the output value of the unit employee is much higher than that of other enterprises. Therefore, when serving customers, Honeywell also tries its best to avoid misunderstandings such as machine-only theory and human uselessness, and instead designs solutions for customers to achieve higher output value with less or no layoffs.
Intelligent manufacturing is inseparable from technological innovation. Intelligent manufacturing itself is a kind of technological innovation, and technological innovation provides intelligent manufacturing with unlimited imagination, application and expansion space. Honeywell will continue to invest its efforts to share more of our good things with customers, grow together with partners, and work together to explore better intelligent manufacturing solutions.
thank you all!
