Interview with Yan Si, CEO of BROAD Robotics – Collaborative Robots Have Infinite Possibilities
On September 18, the second day of the CIIF, China Robotics Industry Network walked into the booth of the collaborative robot rookie-Broad Robotics Co., Ltd., had a dialogue with CEO Yans Kotraski, and listened to the collaborative robot in his mind. Broad application prospects in the future.

German wisdom creates a new type of robot that is safe and easy to use
“The research and development of the BROAD collaborative robot was completed in Germany. The core team members were senior professors in colleges and universities before joining BROAD, and they have rich experience in the development of electromechanical systems and software systems,” Yan Si said: “The professional knowledge reserve is very important for Research and development is critical, and our goal is to create a robot that can be used in more production environments, has low application costs, and is easy to maintain and operate.”
As the initiator and promoter of the theory of Industry 4.0, the rigorous, meticulous and solid style of the German nation is fully demonstrated in the BROAD collaborative robot. The robot’s soft design and refreshing color matching make it less related to traditional industrial equipment.
“Different from the 7*24 hours of repetitive work of traditional Industrial Robots, the positioning of collaborative robots is more like an assistant or a powerful tool. You can teach it new skills by dragging and dropping. With good safety, Robots do not need to be separated by fences when working, and no additional deployment space is required, which is of great significance to small, medium and micro enterprises.” Yansi said.
Optimized design, allowing users to use collaborative robots to save money
“Traditional Industrial Robots require specialized engineers for maintenance and programming, which greatly increases the cost of using robots for enterprises. The BROAD collaborative robot adopts a new programming method – a web-based design, which operators can access through mobile phones or Pads. By dragging and dropping commands to complete programming tasks, a person after simple training can take up the job. On the other hand, the modular design of the robot also makes it easier and more cost-effective for users to upgrade and develop the system twice.” Yan Si introduced: “For example, if a user wants to install a vision system on the robot to realize more flexible handling operations, he only needs to select the vision module independently developed by BROAD, and it can be used through simple configuration. This method is comparable to the traditional one. It is more efficient to use two sets of systems to control the robot with a visual unit attached to it, and it also has a price advantage.”
In addition to the vision module, functional modules such as electric gripper, force perception, and VR debugging have also been integrated into the BROAD robot supporting system, which has a certain ecological effect.
Mass production at the end of the year, the European market becomes the first place
“The future application market of collaborative robots will be even wider than that of Industrial Robots. They will appear in warehousing and logistics, medical care, 3C and other fields. BROAD is also actively preparing for mass production. It is planned that the first batch of robots will be officially launched early next year,” Yan Si said. .
When talking about the difference between the Chinese and European markets, Yan Si said: “China has the broadest robot market, and the massive customer demand will also drive the collaborative robots to achieve huge technological development and progress, and China is also the most important market for Yuanda Robotics. One. But Chinese customers are very sensitive to the price of robots, and sometimes even ignore the performance of robots and use cheaper robot products. Our first batch of products may be for European customers, because Europe is solving the problem of high labor costs It is more prominent and pays more attention to the performance advantages of robots. We will also simultaneously carry out business in China and bring cost-effective, safe and easy-to-use BROAD robots to more regions and industries.”
